Foyle salutes Brodie

York City manager Martin Foyle was full of praise for leading scorer Richard Brodie following his second hat-trick of the season against Hinckley United.

Brodie raised his personal tally to twenty-three as his side fought off determined opposition with a 3-1 victory and secured a trip to Newport County in the FA Trophy second round.

“The lad has done absolutely great," Foyle told BBC Radio York.

“He won the penalty himself and his other two goals were very good finishes. We asked him to run across the lines and he took that on board.”

However, the Minstermen were once again far from convincing in their overall display.

“I’m pleased to get through although it wasn’t a vintage performance," admitted Foyle.

“We were slow to the second balls but you have to give them credit as well because they were lively and caused us problems at the right times.

“The pitch is also very hard to play on at the moment.”
